PARTIES AND LABEL
It started with a love of house parties and a search for the perfect soundtrack. In 2009 Boglewaltz began their adventures with a roadblock loft party in deepest East London which brought together different scenes, genres and vibes. There was never a plan to do regular nights but everyone was asking ‘when’s the next rave?’, so every time they found an off-the-radar venue Boglewaltz would think up their dream combination of DJs and styles and make it happen. Soon they’d brought together DJ Derek, Benji B, Normski, Mistajam, Tomb Crew, Nero, Morgan Zarate and Cal Jader to name just a few – wildstyle genre mixing which drew a fun-loving unpretentious crowd.
After a mind-bending trip to LA’s notorious Do-Over jam Boglewaltz knew they had to try and bring summer garden parties to London even without the California sunshine to help them out. From a tropical garden in Archway, via
a rooftop terrace in Brixton they have stayed true to their partying values and stayed ahead of the curve, always booking their favourite DJs regardless of hype. All this fun in the sun led full circle to a street party special in August 2011 with The Do-Over complete with Aloe Blacc, The Gaslamp Killer, Stretch Armstrong and a 2,000 strong crowd that queued round the block to be there. This year’s edition saw even more people dancing to sets by ?uestlove, Benji B, Phonte and a surprise performance by Damian Marley. Look out for more fresh party manoeuvres from Boglewaltz in the near future!
… and there’s more. Boglewaltz’ first compilation ‘We Came For The Music…’ features a cross section of talents from London and beyond. The album, which takes in rock, hip-hop, soul, punk, and many things in between enjoyed support from Radio 1, 1xtra, Rinse, 6music, KCRW and a recommended album nod from the Mercury Music Prize. Volume 2 is coming soon.

D.ABLO

A guitar eating, drum scorching, piano plinking, logic battering, bass wobbling, silhouette of a singer. D.ablo first came to the public’s attention as a member of the now legendary UK hip hop crew ‘TerraFirma’ crafting a name for himself through his unique vocal style and prolific multi-instrumentalism. He has worked extensively with a diverse crowd of artists including NERO, Maceo Plex, Alix Perez, Paloma Faith, Foreign Beggars, Eric Volta, Mr Ti2bs, 16Bit, Jehst, Taio Cruz, Ayah Marar and Ghetts and currently makes up one half of the ‘Sleeping Giants’ production unit with fellow TerraFirma graduate Skriblah DanGogh.
